Overview

We are looking to recruit a Team Leader for our Event-Driven Strategies, Equity Research team in London to help capitalise on strong growth across both our research offering and client base.

Reporting to the CEO, your primary responsibility will be leading a team of equity research analysts across our event-driven strategies unit that specialises in crowdsourcing subject-matter expertise on companies to produce written investment research reports for private and public equity investors.

In order to do this, you will be required to manage the team in identifying and cultivating relationships with relevant subject-matter experts and industry sources across the world in order to conduct high-level research that is able to add value and provide an informational edge to some of the world's largest private and public equity investors. 

You may have to spend considerable time reaching out to people via phone or email and assessing whether they possess the information that will allow you to produce either a top-down or bottom-up analysis of a company or sector. 

As part of the role, you may be working on several client requests at once and will quickly develop efficient project management and communication skills, while also being able to communicate your understanding effectively to some of the largest institutional investors in the world.

 

Responsibilities

A newly hired Event-Driven Strategies, Equity Research Team Leader will be responsible for:

  • Managing a team of event-driven equity research analysts in finding, speaking to, and cultivating relationships with subject-matter experts across various sectors and regions

  • Selectively writing equity research reports on event-driven projects for hedge fund and private equity clients to summarize our investment findings and recommendations

  • Implementing processes and procedures to help the team effectively target and recruit subject-matter experts across a variety of different sectors

  • Designing, developing, and implementing best practices for the collection and distribution of investment research to clients in relation to event-driven strategies using primary research methods such as interviews and surveys

  • Collating, organising, and analysing qualitative and quantitative information from our primary research findings

  • Providing clients with updates on ongoing projects and results

  • Updating and keeping track of news flow on specific companies including earnings releases as well as industry-specific thematic trends

  • Answering client queries and dealing with client requests via email, over the phone, and in-person

  • Pitching innovative new product offerings to our clients

  • Contributing to new business development and client relationship management opportunities

  • Helping to train new team members on how to complete expert interviews and write detailed investor-focused research reports.

 

Requirements

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • 2+ years experience in investment banking (Equity Research, M&A) asset management or consulting firms or related discipline is required

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel/ GSuite

  • Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university

  • Eligible to work in the UK, indefinitely

  • A passion for Equity analysis and the stock market.

  • Competency at report writing including presentation, formatting, editing, producing charts and graphics

  • An excellent eye for detail, quality and consistency to ensure the highest possible professional standards for reports

  • A proven track record in managing and completing multiple projects to tight deadlines whilst still maintaining a high level of quality

  • The ability to build a rapport and develop lasting relationships with subject experts met either through cold calling or email

  • Be driven and ambitious with the motivation to take on additional responsibilities should the opportunity arise
